8-Day Morocco Tour From Casablanca

We'll meet you at Casablanca airport, then visit the Hassan II Mosque before taking the road to Meknes, capital of Morocco during the 17th century. Along the way, we pass through Rabat, stopping to see the current capital and its historic heritage, such as the Kasbah of the Oudayas and the Hassan Tower. You'll spend the night at a hotel or riad in Meknes, with dinner and breakfast included.

After breakfast, a guided tour of Meknes takes in the old medina with the tomb of Moulay Ismail, the Granary, the Square of Lehdim, and the Bab Mansour gate. After dinner in Meknes, we head to the holy city of Moulay Idriss, a place of pilgrimage for Moroccans, then visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis, before driving on to Fes for the night at a riad or hotel.

After breakfast, you'll visit the old medina of Fez, the most ancient of the Imperial Cities in the Muslim world and Morocco's spiritual and political capital for over 1,000 years. Your local guide reveals the city's secrets, taking in the Royal Palace, the Jewish Quarter, the Tomb of the Merinids, the 14th-century Bou Inania School, and ceramics craftsmanship. After lunch in the medina, explore the richly decorated Attarine School, Nejjarine Square, the Dar Batha Museum of Moroccan Arts and Crafts, and the Kairaouine Mosque, along with the medieval tanneries and endless variety of handcraft merchandise. The night is spent in Fes.

After breakfast, you'll start the trip to Merzouga, passing through Ifrane — often described as a Swiss mountain city — the cedar forests of Azrou where you can wander among wild macaques, the Middle Atlas Mountains, Morocco's only tunnel, and the Ziz Valley with its palm groves and high cliffs. The excursion continues deeper southeast toward the Sahara, where you'll begin a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes, spending the night in a Berber tent at our desert camp. After dinner, gather around the fire for Berber music, or take a walk on the dunes under the stars.

Rise early to witness the magic of sunrise over the dunes. After a Berber breakfast, ride camels back to Merzouga and set off by car toward Tinghir to see the Todra Gorges. Along the way, stop in Rissani to visit the Moulay Ali Cherif mausoleum, then pass through small Berber villages such as Jorf, known for its palm trees, Mellaab, and Tinjdad. Continue to the Dades Gorges, passing mountains formed like monkey fingers, before arriving in the Dades Valley for dinner and an overnight stay at a riad or hotel.

After breakfast, cross the authentic Dades Valley to Kalaat M'gouna, the "capital of roses," and Ouarzazate, the "Hollywood of Africa," passing hundreds of abandoned kasbahs along the way. Visit the Roses Valley and Skoura village before continuing to Ouarzazate, where you'll see the Taourirt Kasbah and enjoy lunch at the largest kasbah in Morocco, the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a filming location portrayed to audiences worldwide. After touring the kasbah, the journey resumes via the Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass, with a stop to enjoy the panoramic view and visit Argan oil cooperatives, before heading to Marrakech.

After breakfast at the riad, begin a sightseeing tour of Marrakech, "the Red City," founded in the 12th century by the Almoravid dynasty. Explore the most important cultural and historical heritage, including the Saadian Tombs, Majorelle Gardens, and Koutoubia Tower. Your guide leads you to the Bahia Palace area and the souks, then to the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square to discover its snake charmers, storytellers, and musicians. The afternoon is free to walk around and explore other places on your own.
